Bioshock’s Bouncer

Whew… After a full month, I’ve just finished “BioShock.” Being the achievement points whore that I am, I played the game without harvesting any of the Little Sisters, which not only gave me an addition achievement but also the “good ending.” I saw online what the “bad ending” was and I’m pleased with the route I went.

This is one of the most beautiful games I’ve played in a long time. The art direction was very interesting with its ‘underwater art deco meets Marilyn Manson’ style and I would be greatly surprised if it didn’t win any awards in that category. Conceptually, “BioShock” was very interesting and it definitely elevated itself above the typical First Person Shooter. I enjoyed finding various ways to combine my plasmids with weapons in bringing chaos and ruin to this underwater society. Don’t ask me about the story. I really could make too much sense of it, even though I was running around collecting the diaries. Luckily, someone posted a good explanation of the background story over at Wikipedia. The atmosphere of Rapture was awesome. And dark. And scary. The best way to play this game is at night in a dark room. It would freak me out so much that I could only play for about an hour a night, before I’d have to switch to something else. I know I must have yelled out “Oh s—!” several times. This is probably why it took me a month to finish.

And just in time, my copy of “Halo 3” arrived today!
