OMG. How am I going to make it through this holiday season? Look at these release dates:

  • “The Orange Box” - out now
  • “The Simpsons Game” - Oct. 30
  • “Call of Duty 4″ - Nov. 5
  • “Assassin’s Creed” - Nov. 13
  • “Mass Effect” - Nov. 20
  • “Rock Band” - Nov. 20

Must. Own. All of them. Hopefully Sean Preston and Jayden James Spears-Federline need some play dates, because I don’t think I can take care of my kids until February ‘08.

It’s a given that “The Orange Box” rocks. Five games for the price of one. A “Must buy” based on that alone. Wait, you mean each game rules? Sold. Wallet is now minus $60.

Like I said before, despite the demo, I’ll still get “The Simpsons Game.” Now I just need to decide which retailer to pre-order it from so I can get their exclusive poster and cheat code.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.” Duh.

Assassin’s Creed.” Despite the weird techno-Matrix-thingy which happens when Altair’s looking at something or someone, this game should be pretty good. I like the Medieval setting and the graphics look nice. I think I’m off to pre-order this one at GameStop so I can get the free art book. Yes, I’m a sucker.

Mass Effect.” I’ve got a good friend at Microsoft who should be able to order this one for me, so at $30, this is a no-brainer.

Even though my wedding reception video and “Guitar Hero 2″ have reaffirmed that I am rhythmically challenged, I think about “Rock Band” every time I’m listening to my iPod. I’ve saved all of my Microsoft Points for the downloadable content. I keep hoping since Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” is in the game, that the whole “Superunknown” album will be announced as a future download. I’m fairly certain I’m going to get the bundle, but it’s still debatable. I’ll have to see how the pricing breaks down for each instrument. I figured I could get the wife on vocals, hand the kids each a drum stick and I’ll strum poorly with the guitar. As previously announced over our Xbox Live chatting, the name of my band will be known as “1Man Ambush.” Prepare to have your eardrums blown out.

Looks like I finished “Halo 3” and “Bioshock” just in time.

Edit: It looks like the only way to get “Rock Band” this year is when you buy the $170 bundle with all of the instruments.
