Downtime

So you’ve saved the world in “Call of Duty 4.” And you’ve discovered that the cake is a lie. And the galaxy is safe from Saren and the Geth. So now what?

If you’re me, you busy trying to gain additional gamerscore points from old games.

Oh yeah, I forgot that I had a Campus Legend at Michigan as well as plans to rebuild my college into a 6-star program. There’s got to be points to be gained there. Then I popped “Forza 2” back into my 360 to discover that my driver level is 27. There’s got to be more points coming soon.

I’ve got the urge to buy a new game. But what? All of my friends are still online playing “CoD 4.” I’ve been putting the feelers out there for “Burnout Paradise,” but no one seems to be biting.  Thanks to GameTrailers TV, my interest increased in “Turok,” so I downloaded the demo. I really wanted to like this game, but it keeps pushing me away. The idea of shooting dinosaurs or making them attack your enemies sounds great, especially in HD, but I found it too frustrating. I couldn’t shoot anyone - and this is a First Person Shooter! I ended up selecting the knife and stabbing everything and everyone while I clicked away on the right trigger. I tried shooting. I really did, but those dinos were so fast that it seemed that the only way to kill them was to stab them. Although my four-year-old is really into dinosaurs (and who isn’t), this really isn’t a game I’d give him to have fun. Too much blood. But I’m sure the developers never intended “Turok” to be a game for kids.
